THGS Dress Code
Tar Heel Girls State has a dress code for All MEETINGS outside the dorm.
TWO Polo shirts with the Girls State emblem are provided ( one red, one blue). Meetings on Monday through Saturday require the Girls State shirt (Polo) to be worn with skirts (NO MINIS) or pants that reach mid-calf or lower: SOLID black, khaki, or navy (no denim). No Capris, gauchos, blue jeans or walking shorts during the meetings). Meetings on Sunday require a skirt, dress or full length pants. Please wear proper undergarments at all times. No tube tops, no shoulder straps less than one inch, no backless dresses (the exception is for the Friday inaugural reception), no mid-drifts should show, no shorts or skorts (except during free time in the dorm).
Dress shoes (opened toed shoes are acceptable) or sandals are required for all meetings. NO athletic shoes, flip flops or beach sandals are to be worn during meetings. Informal dress is fine around the dorm, in the dining room and during free time. You may want to pack a swimsuit.
A white dress (or skirt and blouse, no strapless or spaghetti straps) and white shoes are needed if you plan to serve as a speaker escort or in the flag honor guard. A long or DRESSY dress is appropriate for the Special Celebration on Friday evening. It's a great chance to wear that Prom dress again!
